Horsetamer is a mob kit that has a horse mount and good boots.

What the kit gets

At max level, horsetamer gets a leather helmet, a leather chestplate with protection 1, chain leggings, and diamond boots with protection 2. It also gets a diamond axe with infinity 1, a horse spawn egg, diamond horse armor, a saddle, and 10 apples.

Why should you get this kit?

1. Horse. The horse you get with this kit is basically infinite speed 2. The only downside is that you get less reach on the horse, because you are higher up. You can also heal the horse with your apples.
2. Diamond boots. You get one of the best boots in the game, only lesser to the Wolftamer protection 4 diamond boots.
3. Base armor. You get 5.5 armor bars with 3 levels of protection, which is better than full chain armor!

Kill effect

It is recommended to use the regeneration or instant health kill effect. This is because although speed is a great kill effect, the horse nullifies the usefulness of it.

How to play this kit

At the start of the game, start looting. You should loot for a chestplate and a helmet. Apples are also recommended, because they can heal your horse. You can also loot for a rod and a bow. A bow is especially good for horsetamer, because you can bow while riding the horse and not get slowed down. Another option is to find a weapon and immediately start killing players. However, make sure to still loot for useful items.

Once kits are received, spawn your horse. Then, start attacking players. You should get off your horse before you enter a fight, so you don’t have the disadvantage of less reach. If your enemy starts to run, then get on your horse and chase them down. If you get low, you can also run away on your horse. Or, if you have a rod, you can rod your enemy while riding your horse to put yourself on a similar level of reach to them. You take no knockback on the horse, so you aren’t affected by rods. However, remember to constantly heal your horse. You can do this mid-fight by running back, dismounting, and spamming right click on your horse with apples. This makes sure the horse is at full health.

If you have a bow, you can also “horsebow”. As mentioned earlier, you aren’t slowed down while using a bow while riding a horse. This allows you to get a lot of free bow shots on your enemy.

At deathmatch, if you have a bow, try to horsebow as much as you can. Then, start attacking your enemy. Remember to heal your horse regularly. Keep fighting to secure the win! 

How to counter this kit

You can counter the horse by bowing it, or using speed, from scout or the speed kill effect. 

If your enemy fights on the horse, aim for the horse. Your enemy has less reach on the horse, so you can focus on the horse without your enemy able to retaliate.

If your enemy horsebows, you can bow back at them. If you don’t have a bow, you can try to use projectile protection armor, such as with SlimeySlime, Armorer, or Snowman. Speed 2 also counters this, because speed 2 is slightly faster than a horse. If you have none of these, the best option is to strafe and dodge the arrows, and wait until deathmatch, where your enemy can’t run as much.

Summary

Horsetamer is a great kit that has a very useful mount, and great boots and base armor on top of that.
