[GUIDE] Armor potential in Blitz: What it is and why you should care

Armor potential is a term commonly used in Blitz SG (Hunger Games). But before we go over it, let's talk about max blitz armor.

Max blitz armor

Max blitz armor is known as the best possible armor you can obtain from chests. Therefore, max blitz would be:

Gold/chain/iron helmet

Iron chestplate

Chain leggings

Iron boots

Ok, so what does this have to do with armor potential?

Actually, this has a lot to do with it. An armor potential piece would be any armor piece that is better than it's respective max blitz armor piece. There are 2 types of armor potential:

  1. Plain armor potential. Plain armor potential is simply armor that is better than it's respective max blitz piece, against plain melee damage. Diamond pieces, iron leggings, and other iron pieces or chain leggings with protection are typically considered armor potential because they are better than their respective max blitz piece. Shadow Knight's protection 5 skull is also considered armor potential, as it protects more against melee damage than an iron helmet. Their power is calculated assuming every other piece is max blitz.
  2. Environmental armor potential. Environmental armor potential pieces are ones with special enchantments, such as feather falling, blast protection, etc. These don't have to necessarily be better than their respective max blitz piece, like plain armor potential. For example, armorer's leather boots with protection 2, unbreaking 3, and feather faling X is considered environmental armor potential, because although it typically isn't “better” than iron boots, it's unique in the way it has the feather falling. Like with plain armor potential, you can't get feather falling from chests, and wearing it over iron boots can be more beneficial against fall damage.

So, why should I care?

Armor potential is actually very important late game. For example, take a Knight. They are already at their max armor potential, as no max blitz piece would be better to have than any knight piece. (This is assuming every other piece is Knight armor, not max blitz). However, assume there is a meatmaster in that same game. If neither the knight nor the meatmaster did any looting, the knight would obviously win the fight. However, if the meatmaster went on a chest route and got the rest of its pieces to max blitz, they would have significantly better armor than a Knight. Then, if they were to fight, they would have equal weapons, but the meatmaster has much better armor due to it's armor potential, so it would win the fight. This shows how much of a difference an armor potential piece can make in a fight.

How about environmental armor potential?

Obviously, you would want to wear a projectile protection iron helmet over a normal one. However, environmental armor potential may still have a use even if it has less protection against melee damage. For example, if you were to fight an Archer, the armorer helmet with projectile protection would be significantly better to use than an iron helmet, due to it's resistance to arrows.

Summary

Armor potential is an important thing to note in Blitz. It can make the difference between whether a kit wins or loses a fight. So next time you pick a kit, keep armor potential in mind!
