Fisherman is a common kit that gives a good weapon, good armor, and a fishing rod that can reel players in.
Fisherman is a common kit, and costs 500 coins to unlock.
At level 1, the kit gets:
+ Leather helmet (protection 1)
+ Leather chestplate (protection 1)
+ Chain leggings (protection 2)
+ Diamond boots (depth strider 2)
+ Iron sword
+ Fishing rod (15 second cooldown)
The level 2 upgrade costs 1000 coins, and consists of:
+ Leather helmet (protection 1) → Leather helmet (protection 3)
+ Leather chestplate (protection 1) → Leather chestplate (protection 3)
+ Diamond boots (depth strider 2) → Diamond boots
The level 3 upgrade costs 1500 coins, and consists of:
+ Diamond boots → Diamond boots (depth strider 3)
+ Iron sword → Diamond sword
+ Good weapon. At level 3, fisherman gets a diamond sword, which is one of the best weapons you can get from a kit.
+ Good armor. At level 1, the armor gives the equivalent of 6 armor bars, which is as good as full chain armor. At levels 2 and 3, the armor gets even better, having the equivalent of 7.5 armor bars, which is as good as full iron armor!
+ Fishing rod. This can help chase down runners, or mess with your enemy's movement to get some free hits.
Fisherman is based on forcing a fight and winning with the strong gear the kit provides, so you want to fight in melee PVP as much as possible.
You should use the fishing rod right before you enter a fight. Right after you reel the rod in, jump to the side and attack your enemy to get some free hits. You can also run to a 2 block tall corner. All trees have one on the current map. Then, reel your enemy in, jump back, and start critting them from behind. This is called a “corner trap”. The corner keeps your enemy from taking knockback and allows you to get many crits from behind.
After you use your rod, fight in melee PVP. The fishing rod acts like a normal rod when on cooldown, so you can use it to start a combo. When the rod's ability is able to be used again, you can use one of the rod strategies again. Just note that if you use a strategy too much, your enemy might catch on and be ready for it.
If your enemy tries to run away, rod them from behind. The en, do a “corner trap" on your enemy. Then, fight them until they run away using your rod as a combo starter, and when they run away, hook them and wait for your cooldown to expire, and then do the strategy again.
If you are chasing your enemy on flat terrain, you can rod them from behind, reel them in, and jump in front of your enemy and attack them. This forces them to turn around, and makes them take a lot of damage.
The depth strider can be used to gain a massive advantage in water. It makes you move much faster. Although there is currently no water maps, they will likely be added in the future.
Fisherman has a medium-high skill cap, because it takes a good amount of skill to effectively use the rod to its max potential.
Fisherman counters speed kits such as sonic and enderman, because the fishing rod greatly reduces the usefulness of speed. Fisherman also counters Zombie because it puts a lot of pressure with the rod and prevents the zombie from using a gapple. It also counters Archer because the rod can prevent the Archer from running away and force a trade. It also counters Boulder because it can easily win a trade in the confined space that Boulder creates.
Fisherman has no gimmick other than the rod, so you can use kits with strong abilities such as centaur, time weaver, and stormcaller to overpower the fisherman. Dracula also counters fisherman because the lifesteal helps win a trade. Summoner also counters fisherman because the golem can do a lot of damage, easily winning a trade. Lastly, Spiderman counters fisherman because of its superior gear and its ability to force trades.
Fisherman's rod can easily be countered by having a rod of your own from the fishing rod perk. This removes the uniqueness of it, and allows you to effectively fight back.
+ Fisherman used to be one of the default kits unlocked, along with Archer.
+ Back in old KitPvP when there were water maps, you could catch fish and other items from the water!
+ Fisherman is the only kit to have a “downgrade” (it loses depth strider at level 2, but regains it at level 3).
+ You can hit yourself with the rod. If you reel yourself in while running, it gives you a small lagback.
+ If you switch your item when you have someone hooked with your rod instead of reeling them in, it will still teleport them to you and use the ability if your rod is not on cooldown.
Fisherman is a strong kit that has a strong weapon and armor, as well as a rod that helps a lot in PVP. It takes a decent amount of skill to use.
That's it for the kit review, comment below on what you think and what kit I should do next!

Alr, I'll do that as the first of the rare kits. I cover commons first, as they are the most affordable
