All these awards shows are about reputation. Of course, people may be well known for things like P2W, Killing, Scamming, pvping, building, being ‘generous’, etc. However, these are only people that were noticed. Things like small acts of kindness, players who are just genuinely good, humble people will never be mentioned here. All these are is just a reputation and ego boost for the loud and proud players. Also, these players may have done horrible things in game like tp trapping, griefing, and stealing, and no one will know about it. People will vote for people they know, so basically these awards are just a list of the most social, noticable people.
