On the concept of Tp Traps and Scamming.

We all have seen the scammers. We also know that tp traps exist. I wanted to write this post for a really long time now.
TP trapping takes all the fun of people who have 100s of hours of playtime and often victims of such traps suffer tremendous losses, often quitting. This has been an issue that has been around since lands existed, and ignoring it sets a precedent that tp trapping is allowed and the playerbase is powerless in stopping these unfair practices. Most of the time, people cannot even attack the trapper, since it is positioned in such a way so that the trapper can hit the victims and makes it extremely hard to get out or kill the trapper. The combat tag is a trapper's friend because the victims cannot use /home or other stuff to get out without losing their stuff. I have been victim to a bit of tp traps, and how they are so successful is they prey on human trust, like a social engineer. Humans trust people unless a situation forces them not to, and tp trappers take advantage of this to steal massive amounts of gear.

The same is true for scammers, but instead of killing you, it is a more targeted approach, with the intent to steal in game currency, op stuff, etc. It makes a person very sad to be scammed if they fulfill their end of the deal, but the scammer doesn't and TPs away or laugh in their face.

We unfortunately cannot do anything about this, but the community does combat this by listing lands that have been verified ahead of time and reporting tp traps. We also report scammers to the community, so others do not suffer the same fate.

I've been tp trapped more then anyone I know, although I bet there are hundreds of people who've been tp trapped more then me on Arch as it is a huge server. Thanks for finally saying something about tp trapping. Since the day i've joined as soon as noob prot wore off I've been tp trapped constantly… you might say “Pieloid, that's your fault for being idiotic and accepting tp requests.” Recently there's been a person going around… He or she uses portal trapping. Portal trapping is one of the most deadly tp traps of them all. In my opinion, the deadliest. In land traps, you might be able to spam shields to protect yourself or fight back if the person trapping you is in hit range. Then, you have the option to do /spawn if you get out of combat. However, as you might know, while in a portal you cannot open chat OR your inventory. Back to the portal trapper… This person has been going around pretending to be people he or she isn't. For example, he or she sent me a request on an acc who's IGN was “grantpapy” instead of the legendary rank “grantpappy” with 2 ps. I accepted thinking it was actually grantpappy and got stuck in a portal. You might be thinking that I could just mine out, but since it is inside a land, it is imposible to pearl, break, or use commands to get out. Obviously, since I don't have much IQ I died instantly. My friend TheMaskMC has been trapped my the same person framing me, going by the name “Pie_Loid”. TheMaskMC got stuck in a portal and was blackmailed until he got released. Alot of very formidable players have fallen for this trap. Just a warning to people.

In theory scamming is illegal. There was a section in the rules saying this on the old website. It's just the mods don't give a crap about it.

Adding on to pieloid_1's comment, do not trust anyone who has a name similar to a well-known player's. For example, there is someone who tp traps under the username “VoxelBraeker_,” one with the name “EmotionalDanage,” and countless others (I am pretty sure its the same person just with multiple accounts).
