Credits are equivalent to IRL money, with a 1:1 ratio. However, they can only be used to purchase items in the store (ranks, tags, bundles, etc.). To gift credits, go to https://arch.mc/credits/send, and to gift ranks/tags go to https://arch.mc/chest, and click the send button next to the item you want to send.

credits are directly equal to real money, in the sense that  one credit is one dollar, although you may not turn credits back into dollars. By buying ranks/bundles/tags in your chest, and opening them up there, you can select the red gift button, which opens the gifting menu. simply put the desired username inside and send and they will receive whatever you gave them.
