how do you put "custom" items in brewing stands for alchemy?

I can't put my nether quartz into the brewing stand to make an absorption potion, how do i do it?

(ele can do it so it means it can be done)

First brewing those potions can only be done via MCMMO. So if your MCMMO level for Brewing isin't at the level for what it has to be you cant brew custom potions.
