I was recently starting to get some progress on Hypixel BedWars when I saw someone say ‘’Who wants free rank'' in chat. I said ‘’me'' first and for some odd reason they said I had to add them on discord, which I did. They sent me a hypixel.gift link (which is a phishing link) which I clicked on and logged into with my Minecraft email. That quite literally means I gave them my password which they could steal my Java account with. 

Thankfully, a few minutes before this happened I had turned on 2fa (two factor authentication) on my Microsoft/Minecraft E-Mail which meant people can't just login just by knowing my password. 

A few moments later I told this to an experienced player and they said ‘’oh nah you're cooked your java account is gonna be hacked'' which is when I started panicking. I instantly changed every single password and made them absurdly long. I thanked the player for telling me about this trap. 

If you're a java player who is new to hypixel PLEASE do not click on these links. If someone wants to gift you a rank they only need your username and not any email/passwords/codes. The hypixel store does not have a rank-gifting system.
